Imagination is a strange and mysterious thing indeed. It is also a profoundly human quality. This is how I wish to conclude my "Invent to Learn" series: by suggesting that imagination is the most underrated and misunderstood component of educating anyone about anything in any context.

Like most prodigies from History (Leonardo Da Vinci and Galileo Galilei come to mind quickly), Einstein's peers misunderstood him even though he was brilliant and way ahead of his time. How could he remain so true to his path at a time when rigid intellectualism and skeptical peers surrounded him?

I propose, much like Jacques Cousteau, the famous French modern-day explorer (CNN, 2012), that there is no more extreme and thrilling way to learn than to engage in a project on which one's very survival depends.

In his book, "Johnathan Livingston Seagull: a story," Richard Bach (1970) paints a picture for us about a seagull who believes that he can be more than all the other seagulls, despite the evidence around him suggesting otherwise. The story is an allegory, teaching an important life lesson: Never allowing anyone or anything to dictate our potential.
